Cataloging
How are digital records cataloged?
A simple web-based form is included for easily adding and editing records. The system also supports the optional AGCat Editor for more experienced, “power users” who want to perform editing using a MARC tool. Records can also be imported via batch processing from your existing system database into the AGent Digital Collections system, where all text can be searched.

What do the catalog records for compound objects look like?
AGent Digital Collections supports multiple file types and multiple quantities of the same file type to one record, as well as subject and collection tags. Subject tags are used for grouping records into collections. Collection tags are used for differentiating by collection and multiple files in a record.


Searching
How does AGent Digital Collections manage and search collection records?
Collections can be separated into different databases physically or virtually and tagged with a collection subject tag. The system can perform a federated search of all collections or can scope to a specific collection.

Will there be automatic thumbnail generation for image files?
Yes. Thumbnails will be automatically created for image files when browsing results and also in the full record display. The system designates all other file types by their appropriate icons.


File Formats
What file types does AGent Digital Collections support?
The system accepts all file types, including image, audio, video, and text files to accommodate any collection.

Will the system support future file types?
Yes. The system will seamlessly expand to support all currently un-invented file types.


Importing
Can records be imported from other systems into AGent Digital Collections?
Yes. Records can be imported into AGent Digital Collections based on a number of different criteria via MARC, Dublin Core, or XML formats. Please contact us for pricing on custom file formats.


Exporting
Can records be exported from the database into other formats?
Yes. Records can be extracted based on a number of different criteria into MARC, Dublin Core, or XML formats. Please contact us for pricing on custom file formats.

Can records be automatically loaded into my existing ILS system?
Yes. Records can be created and stored in a separate database or can be stored in your existing local ILS system. Records created in AGent Digital Collections can be imported into your ILS system via batch or individually. Contact us for pricing.


Platforms
What servers does AGent Digital Collections run on?
The system runs on Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 servers.

What are the recommended Web browsers for viewing collections?
Best viewed with Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, Netscape 6.2 or higher, and Firefox 1.0 or higher.


Usability
Is additional software required for accessing audio files?
No. AGent Digital Collections uses standard plug-ins, automatically loaded into the system, which are manually configurable by each user depending on browser type and operating system.

Is the system ADA compliant?
Yes. AGent Digital Collections is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is also Bobby compliant.
